Background
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We have a strong track record in education reform and change management projects. Our work is based on partnerships and the creation of opportunity for people to develop themselves.
In the Middle East and North Africa, English projects aim to improve access to English for young people and enable them to meet their educational and career aspirations by:
- supporting learners directly by promoting learner autonomy and providing high quality digital and non-digital language learning content through a range of media
- supporting teachers and institutions through training, development and professional networking
- informing educational policy makers and institutions through consultancy, research, publications and events
Language for Resilience is an 18-month project that seeks to enhance and expand British Council programming on language education for those affected by the Syrian crisis – including those living inside Syria and in host communities in the neighbouring countries of Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
