No tech, low tech? Teaching and technology in low-resource contexts
Is it possible to teach English with technology in low-resource contexts? Do teachers need to have expensive up-to-date technology, and reliable IT infrastructure to even consider integrating the use of technology into their English language classes? We examine what EFL teachers can and can’t do in contexts with few resources, and discuss some of the considerations and challenges.

Digital literacies
Digital literacies, the skills needed to effectively interact with digital technologies, are key 21st century skills, and are increasingly important in educational curricula the world over. What exactly are these literacies? Do they have a place in the English language classroom? This workshop looks at some of the theory underpinning digital literacies, and also at practical activities suitable for low-tech contexts like Iraq.
